MIDNIGHT CONFESSIONS

Sleep blesses weary eyes torn asunder by the harshness of daylight.
A cool breeze floats through my open window,
singing a forgotten melody of subconscious destitute.
Colors mesh, tired muscles collapse in the sea of white linens and
All is Well.

From a dream-ridden tongue comes
a single word,
a single name,
a single sin.
Images cloud the inner mind--the truth shall set you free?
Sweat forms on the unaware brow
tossing and turning in this, my secret paradise.
An angel and a demon in your name,
your precious name,
uttered and muttered over again, unknowingly,
against this wil lof reality.
Dreams spew forth with unbridled Beauty . . .
We are such passionate ones, you and I, and hidden desires forsake lonely tears.

"My sin, my soul"
wrote the Russian genius,
over and over in that solitary name,
over and over until startled eyes flutter to life--
minutes have been hours.
The conscious mind achieves control as the light of a dreaded sun weeps upon my face.

I look to the one beside me.

And all the seduction of these,
my midnight confessions,
exists no more.
